X360: Halo 3

I rate this a 2.5 out of 5.

There are just so many games like Halo out now. Much like Quake, in the beginning there were no games like Halo. And I liked Halo a lot more then. I used to like Halo a whole lot, and play with my little bro Halo 2 split screen on a small TV. Now Halo 3 has so many different alternates out there. I did like the story mode and at least know what Halo means (I never played a Halo campaign until now). The FOV felt a bit weird. During the Cortana campaign I couldn't figure out if the zombie aliens were coming from the left or right.

X360: 50 cent: Blood on the sand

Rate this a 3.5 out of 5.

Played the game on Easy and finished the thing on 1 night. Playing 50 cent as a hardcore street guerrilla gangstar in the middle of a streetwar-torn corrupt middle eastern country. The gameplay and controls are just like Gears of War 2 - the setting is just different. I did enjoy the 50 cent tracks while playing. The beat just makes the game more enjoyable.

X360: Xmen Origins: Wolverine

Finished Wolverine and I feel like I played God of War, in the Marvel Universe. Is this the new way action adventure games are now? I know God of War is good, and in the beginning this felt like God of War for the XBox 360. But I'm not one to play an adventure game more than once but I went through the whole ordeal and finishing the game, and I don't think that I'll be changing that anytime soon.

So that black guy in the movie that can disappear was actually Nightcrawler's father? The storyline is much different than movie even though this was a tie-in and I learned a little more abt the Marvel Universe.

The camera is easy to follow and and I didn't get a headache playing the game. As you go on per level its really difficult to get lost. The Feral Rage (Wolverine Ability) gives you directions on where to go. Nothing confusing, just a bloody bash of thousands of enemies while you are almost invincible.

The controls are easy to learn. X Attack button, Y stronger attacks, B is throw, A is Jump. One button for mutant powers, another for targeting. Etc etc. Easy to learn.

Attack! Attack sequence looks cool! Attack again, and exact same cool attack sequence!. The gameplay is direct yet sometimes repetitive. This is compensated with new sequences as the character levels up and learns new attacks, but there are just SO MANY ENEMIES that you see the same thing again and again.

Did I mention that this is common in most action adventure games?

The attacks are limited as you go on through the level, and when you do a grab - for example - you see about 2-3 grab sequences. Attacks of enemies also look the same. There is one Accomplishment where you get to reverse the Shotgun to someone's head 25 times, but I had to see and do the exact same sequence 25 times. Woohoo! We get to see how Wolverine kills an enemy again, and again, and again.

The action is nonstop. Not that much need for blocking, just attack away at the enemies.Remember, Wolverine isn't known as a defensive person, but he just bashes away at enemies. He should learn to defend a bit more.

The puzzles aren't confusing. Like I said, you won't get lost. Like God of War, there is an indicator in your Feral Rage mode telling you what to go in which directions. Most of the puzzles are simple enough.

Overall, Wolverine's claws actually do cut in this game. A lot of repetitive actions (basically there's too many enemies that you'll see the same thing anyway), and a lot of gore. Think God of War, (especially graphics and gameplay), but Wolverine instead of Kratos, Marvel Universe instead of Greek Mythology. Its just horrible how video games try to make actions so realistic, especially with the amount of blood and violence. So much gore when killing enemies.

Rate this movie a 2.2.

Improvement from the first. The bad guys look ridiculous, the charcaters played cute, most of the movie seems cartooney, and the comedic dialog is laughable at best. Night at the Museum 2 is a typical family fantasy with the historic elements, again. More interesting elements were added (since they were at the Smithsonian). Amelia was adorable though.

XBOX

Upgraded to an Xbox 360 basically for 3 games
Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 for XBL, XBOX Live - play vs other players online
DragonBall: Raging Blast
Soul Calibur 4
Left 4 Dead
I'll be posting reviews for games, movies, atbp (if they're on a disc, and I have it, I can probably talk abt it. And I'll post what I think about these movies.

ಅನ್ಗೆಲ್ಸ್ ಅಂಡ್ Demons

I'd rate this a 2.0

Angels and Demons. The sequel to the Da Vinci code. I didn't see this first. This movie is like another National Treasure: Connect the dots with facts. Thing is, who knows Catholic history? Compared to National Treasure and some facts about the USA, only a really religious historian would know things here (or maybe a Vatican City tourist). I felt like this movie was a Sunday School movie.

ಸ್ಟ್ರೀಟ್ ಫೈಟರ್: ದಿ ಲೆಗೆಂದ್ ಆಫ್ ಚುನ-Li

christen25's rating: 1.3

I keep falling asleep while watching Kristen Kreuk train to defeat M. Bison. I don't even want to go to sleep while watching this, but I do. Early on, I saw how strong the characters are, but compared to Iron Man, The Hulk, or Captain America, what's needed is the AWE FACTOR. I wonder what the ending of the movie is, but I might fall asleep in the middle. And the characters can break walls sometimes, and sometimes they can't. Movie effects are always so inconsistent.

Knowing

My rate: 2.8 out of 5.

Another sci-fi thriller. No puzzles, no connect the dots, nothing to entice the brain except a simple code of what the future my bring. Something philosophical a bit - more on time. More like: you cannot change fate. Simple enough to teach the viewer the overly complicated concept called of time. And the solution is easy: Aliens.

Been a month gone from posting, but there has been a lack of quality to give my reviews. Sorry about that.

I got a few new movies that'll get their just reviews:

Push

I rate this a 2.1

The potential of any person with hidden powers is like this movie. If you think this movie like a person, then you would discover that there is still more to be discovered. There's amazing abilities such as foresight (seeing the future), telekinesis (move objects with your thought), healing (duh), sniffing (much like a hound, you can track people with their smell), and pushing (act of implying certain things to a person to such a level that they are convinced of anything - not almost) that who wouldn't like a "Heroes" meet "MI3."

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0465580/

Star Trek

Rated the movie a 3.

There is something lacking in the storyline of the film. I'm a little bit of a trekkie, so I was surprised at the exact point that Spock's mother died. I would be more of a trekkie if I was surprised when Kirk's father died. I would even be more of a trekkie than that if I recognized the Romulan spaceship that destroyed the first version of the Enterprise.

Ridiculous. The very essence of the universe and Star Trek was used to destroy Star Trek and the Romulan history. The last time I saw something about Star Trek was that the good guys were at war with the Romulans. Now, they are at peace? Universal peace. So no more Romulan bad guys, then use the overused essence of time travel to create another universe with Romulans as bad guys again. The reboot is more confusing with a totally new timeline to follow... a simple solution to a storyline. Then there's a "Red Ball Mass" that can destroy things...

If you don't know any of this, the sci-fi film is different from the original Star Trek and just a typical sci-fi. Just CGI and CGI action.

Crank 2: High Voltage (2nd Review)

Rate: 2.8 out of 5

The movie is horrible - just a stupid action flick. The very beginning - where the main character opens his eyes from a devastating free-fall (which is in the trailer), gave me the idea that the movie is an action-suspense. This is then replaced with cheap camera effects and random text that could have come from an amateur Mexican commercial. Also the storyline is a downgrade from the first Crank - or ANY movie at all: looks like something put together by a Japanese tourist that was a fan of part one (and got writer's block a lot while writing). Some scenes even look like exact remakes or copies of the first film while others scenes from other films. I have never seen such an obscene film with hundreds of cheap scenes of brutality, nudity and sex a few clothes off to a porno and a little mix of Jackass.

Crank 2: High Voltage

Rate: 2.8 out of 5.

This movie must have been designed to keep you awake. I like Crank and Crank 2, no matter how horrible the artistry. Everything that would shock a person is in the movie, and I felt only seconds of any kind of slowing down. High speed action movie... and not for little babies. The story of part 1 is better than the 2nd, but the craziness and NONSENSE of part 2 is just - can't think of a word except the movie is fcking fun to watch.

17 Again

I'll rate the movie a 2.3

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0974661/

Fantasy movie about a person that turns 17 again... Not bad. I smiled throughout the movie about high school life. Really appealing and fun to watch. Some parts are just not that believable but the story was enjoyable. I saw this in the moviehaus, and the movie didn't take advantage of being inside the movies... not like Fast and The Furious. More like a fun movie to watch. Must see on DVD, but funny enough for the movies.

DragonBall Evolutions :(

I'll rate this a 1.6

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1098327/

If you're curious, wait for a bootleg, then borrow the bootleg. Make sure you have something to do while watching the movie. Seriously, the movie is missing something, that even though I am a DragonBall fan. Fox (I thought Warner Brothers had the rights to DragonBall in the US) just took elements of Akira Toriyama's DragonBall and mixed them together to a different storyline. If you know the anime, you'll know what elements that I'm talking about. The graphics was not like the anime either... this movie is missing the AWE element - and to think I went to the movies to see this. And I didn't feel nor see from others the "good movie residue" - normally children end up mimicking characters after the movie. I can go on and on with the changes needed... I ended up dreaming a better movie.

Fast and The Furious

Movie: 2.8, Fast and the Furious 4 - No Limits 2.6

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1013752/

The movie is really exciting to watch. The syndicated show is also exciting, but the storyline is different than the movie. The copy of the movie that I got to see was just a skippy copy that I had to play on my computer... but the movie really looks good and the racing scene where Dom had to qualify was not only cool to watch, but lengthy enough.

The syndicated show was a bit slow at the beginning with stock cars as the first race vehicles... but better races the longer you watch... but they only go so far.

I'd rate the movie to almost a 2.7 out of 5.

Felt good and laughed a bit. Nice to watch, for all audiences. Everything was a bit typical, but the bits were nice.

Xmen Origins: Wolverine

3.2 out of 5 for any Xmen/comic book fan. Maybe a 2.3 otherwise.

Got to see the movie before May 1! Why should I give out spoilers? The movie was cool. See how the young James, (DOB: 1845 ?) turn into Wolverine. His healing factor now more like that girl in Heroes - as if he was immortal. Nice to see all those questions about comics when I was kid about Wolverine finally come to a resolve (since I haven't followed the comic book in a long time).

If you read the ending credits, they also consisted of credits from the previous Xmen movies. I don't know if they're going to change those.

Seen the movie Notorious?

I rate this a 2.3 of 5

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0472198/

I feel kind of generous giving a 2.3, but the movie was interesting, because BIG's life IS interesting, but the movie was still lacking a certain flare. If this was based on someone else's life, I would give a much much lower rating. Also, I kind of know how scripts are written and how mysteries usually work, and based on the writing and what was on the movie (not the evidence in real life), the text seemed to hint on who killed Biggie. Of course I believe otherwise.

Watched Wall-E

Wall-E gets a 3.4 out of 5

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0910970/

Wall-E is a really nice movie to watch. I liked the story, the graphics were fun to watch, and the characters were the cutest in all the Pixar films that I've watched. "Cute, appealing, and admirable..." and the little romance makes them even cuter. The high-tech aspect makes them even more appealing. Storyline is something that a child would not give that much of consideration.

The Biggest Loser

There's a lot of The Biggest Loser reruns. Lots of hopeless fat people who blame their weight for them being lazy in life, and they're laziness because of their weight, and they're lazy so they become sluggish, and when they give up because they're sluggish because they can't do something well. Then they associate themselves with that. Getting thinner is possible FAT people just take up more space than they need to... they're not even old, worse than old people. Embarrassing.

Another Movie: Speed Racer

2.9 out of 5 for me.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0811080/

Now, let me tell you what happened the first time I watched the movie. At the last race in the movie, as everything was winding down and Speed Racer was nearing the finish line, I slowly stood from my seat. The computer generated tumbling of futuristic vehicles traveling 500 mi per hour on elliptical race tracks were enhanced the surround sound and a giant screen in front of me. I stood in anticipation, focusing more on the screen, trying to make out the images, watching every detail.

I'm into cars. I'm into racing. I've had speeding tickets before. I raced on the freeway more than once - so I know the feeling. I watched Speed Racer when I was a kid. I used to be a better skilled driver... so I enjoyed the movie. On the small screen doesn't do the movie justice though. Cartoons, cars, crazy driving...

Watched a DVD: The Notebook

I rate this movie an 2.6 out of 5.

Actually was touching. I thought that there might be a twist in the story - since the plot was very obvious... but I still liked watching the movie - though has a slow beginning. Too bad the main characters die at the end.

DVD: Inkheart

Inkheart? Maybe a 2.7 out of 5

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0494238/

Inkheart made me feel good after the movie. I liked seeing the elements of other stories gathered in one. Also the irony of having the writer being called a "god" made me think a bit. This is a "children's adventure fantasy movie" that brought out the child inside of me.

Watched the DVD Baler

I'd rate this a 1.88 out of 5.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1305656/

Compared to other Filipino movies out there, this movie is a very good representative of the Filipino heritage; and the movie kept a higher standard of quality in my opinion. I was at the DVD store, choosing what to buy, choosing a bunch of movies to watch until I asked the guy, "Ano ba meron kayo na tagalog?" and a historic film was one of the recommendations. "Baler" : a love story set towards the end of the Spanish occupation / beginning of the Philippine Revolution KKK.

Other DVD: 8 Mile

I rate this a 3.7 out of 5.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0298203/

This is enjoyable. I've seen this movie already, but liked seeing the movie again. Maybe because of the story, maybe because of the beats, wanted to see more of this after the ending. And the bonus features... freestyle rap battles and music (good music can be so hypnotizing, and the movie kind of cheats by having a lot of the old school beats throughout the scenes in the background).

Watched a DVD: Brother's Grimm

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0355295/

I rate this, 1.65 out of 5.

Had the DVD lying around and since the movie is kind of old, didn't want to watch that much. Instead of a fantasy - I can see the storylines form from old stories, I did like that part but other than that there were some parts like a horrow movie.

Watched a DVD: Million Dollar Baby

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0405159/

Saw the movie last night. I've been wanting to watch this for awhile, and the movie is pretty good. Actually brought up a bit of emotions... I hated the mother of Maggie Fitzgerald... just wanted to slap her. Maggie's effort and Frankie's hardships after her last fight. Sometimes, I thought that Maggie was just trying to go against fate and then shit happened...

From a rating of 0 to 5 (with no zeros) I'd rate this a 3.4. If you likethislike "7 Pounds", you might enjoy seeing this.

Wednesday, April 1, 2009

Watched a DVD: Man in the Chair

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0489225/

How am I going to rate this movie? Well there's my way of rating movies, from 1 being the lowest (no zeros) to 5 being the highest, I would rate this maybe a 2.25.

The movie was pretty, much like a quick tutorial on how a movie shd be made, but if you're looking for excitement factor... that's something kinda hard to factor in into this kind. The story was good, the script with some lessons too... quotes to think abt.

Confusing, isn't it?

Are you someone no one listens to?
capt.steel (641) View Listings | Report

I'm wondering if there are other people out there who have this experience?

I just came home from a party and have had the usual experience in social situations where I am simply ignored or interrupted whenever I open my mouth and am virtually alienated by both those I know (the same people who say what a nice person I am) and complete strangers in any group conversations.

Blowhards, braggarts, "know-it-alls" and those who never know when to stop talking seem to have every word hung on as if they are great orators, but there's something about my starting to speak that seems to trigger an immediate interruption in every situation.

Because of this I tend to be quiet in social situations, so when I do have something to say it's usually insightful and it seems like people might find it interesting if anyone ever allowed me a second or two to actually complete a statement.

In one on one situations I tend to do better if someone takes the time to converse with me. I'm fairly intelligent, I'm told by those who have given me a chance that I have a great deal of common sense and a deep sincerety, I'm well versed in many subjects but can still be very deep on issues closer to the heart, I'm empathic to others feelings, great at listening and considering the opinions of others, but I'm careful not to interrupt or dominate conversations and try to practice the consideration of never trying to sound like I know better than others.

i.e. I never treat others the way they treat me by disregarding what they have to say, publicly interrupting them when it's their turn to speak or cutting them off.

You'd think eventually karma would kick in and people would maybe practice the golden rule of treating others with the same respect they'd enjoy receiving (and do receive from me.)

So I just don't get why I can never say anything in a group setting without being interrupted usually right at the point where I was making a point.
And it seems universal for me - it's not just with a particular group - it's happened at meetings at my various jobs, in different groups of friends and at the social functions of different families.

Books say that those who are regarded as the most interesting people and most popular conversationalists in social circles are those who are actually the best listeners.
I find this to be untrue. I'm told I'm a great listener - I can always find someone who wants to talk TO me, but not few who want to talk WITH me.

I've found that those who get the most ear time are also the loudest, the rudest, the crudest, the most likely to interrupt others, or those who have some aggressive, overwhelming opinion on whatever the topic might be that they have to interject over whoever else might be talking to show how much more THEY know about the subject than anyone else.

Probably one of the reasons I'm so wordy on these boards is because I'm never allowed the opportunity to express myself in real life!

Another phenomenon is; I may say something clever or make a joke in a group and no one will respond, but a few seconds later someone else will say the exact same thing (as if it just came to them) and everyone will laugh or comment on how clever the person is who just repeated what I said.

Anyone else have this or similar experiences? (And what's the best way to deal with it?)
